Paradise pays consultant for additional work

Paradise council has agreed to pay Irvine Engineering extra after the consultanting firm were asked to go above and beyond the scope of its contract.
Staff asked Irvine, currently overseeing plans for water and sewer work along Carberry Drive, to bring forward recommendations for a potential lift station in the area.
Councillor Tommy Maher explained that the work, which included investigation of lift station options, preparation of concept design drawings, investigation of electrical requirements for a new lift station, and preparation of cost estimates, was above the scope of the contract and that the Town would have to pay the firm $3,300 plus HST over and above the contract cost.
Councillor Glen Carew asked if the installation of a lift station would push the project overbudget, to which Maher replied in the affirmative.
