Paradise to hire consultant to see if swimming pool is feasible

By Mark Squibb

The Town of Paradise may be one step closer to owning a swimming pool of its own.
During the recreation department report at a public council meeting last month, councillor Patrick Martin noted that a request for proposals for consulting services for a swimming pool feasibility study was issued on Friday, April 4.
Once the request window closes, staff will review all bids and submit a recommendation to council for approval.
Council budgeted for the feasibility study in Budget 2025, citing high demand for the facility.
Residents of Paradise meanwhile, will have to swim elsewhere for the time being.
To the end, Martin added that Town staff recently met with City of Mount Pearl staff to discuss how Paradise residents could more easily avail of swimming time in their facilities.
“We’ve had lots of people looking for swimming lessons, so there’s back-and-forth now between our staff and Mount Pearl to try and come up with something so both our residents and residents of the City of Mount Pearl can avail of at the same time,” said Martin.
