Among the Newfoundlanders getting King Charles III Coronation Medals this year is one working as a Mountie in Nova Scotia. Cst. Andrew Ouellette, a 22-year veteran with the RCMP who is originally from Seal Cove, CBS, was awarded the medal for his years of coaching youth basketball. He was also recognized for creating and organizing the Cst. Heidi Stevenson Memorial Golf Tournament which is entering its fourth year. Ouellette’s father, the late Sgt. Mike Ouellette, served 40 years in the RCMP, nearly all of it in Newfoundland with his last post being in Holyrood. Cst. Ouellette, above left, was among 20 officers in Nova Scotia who received the Coronation Medal in recognition of their significant and long-standing contributions to Canada. He is shown here with fellow recipient Cst. Bryan Martell.
