Roncalli Girls bring home the gold

The Roncalli Central High School Grade 8 Girls volleyball team bring home the gold from Block on the Rock tournament January 10 and 11. The girls were tops again, this time in the Tier 3 division. The team, which is coached by Darlene and Lawrence Whelan of CBS, includes, starting in the back row, from left: Lilyonna Costello, Olivia Cantwell, Kayley Humby, Ally Corbett, Brooklyn Rose, Sophie Lewis; and in the front row, from left: Aliya Dalton, Ellie Allan, Jaylen Penney, Anna Lane, and Pepper Cake. “The team has had an exciting season, marked by hard work, growth, and accomplishments both on and off the court,” said spokesperson Rhonda Tulk-Lane. “With the unwavering support of their amazing volunteer coaches the team has reached new heights, proving that dedication and teamwork truly pay off. A major highlight of their season was earning a well-deserved silver medal at the Roncalli Invitational, showcasing their skill, determination, and camaraderie. Beyond their athletic achievements, the team also focused on mental strength training, an invaluable addition to their development as both athletes and individuals.”
