Paradise approves costly truck repair bill
By Mark Squibb
Paradise council this month approved over $36,200 worth of repairs to a 2016 tandem dump truck.
The truck was brought to a local dealership, Harvey & Company Ltd., for an engine diagnosis and exhaust fume leak.
Councillor Glen Carew explained the original repair quote fell within staff approval limits, however, during the repair the mechanic indicated there were other items that needed to be addressed, including additional parts and labour.
“We did have a fairly robust discussion on this particular item, around equipment and service life and what that time frame looks like,” said Carew. “This is a pretty hefty bill here tonight, but this particular unit is within the confines of its useful life.”
Council unanimously approved the bill, valued at $36,279, HST included.
