Paradise’s new snow clearing truck weighs in at $482K
By Mark Squibb
Paradise council approved the purchase of a new snow clearing truck at its most recent public meeting.
Councillor Glen Carew called the purchase “a biggie,” but noted it had been budgeted for.
“To continue to clear roadways within the Town of Paradise’s boundaries in a timely manner, the purchase of one new tandem with snow clearing attachments is essential,” said Carew.
The Town received four quotes for the supply and delivery of the truck, ranging from $419,000 to $463,000, plus HST.
The lowest compliant bid was supplied by Nova Enterprises Ltd., and council approved the purchase at a cost of $482,000, HST included.
Council also approved the purchase of new cutting edges. The edges are used on all blades for municipal snow clearing equipment as they boost performance and protect the blades.
“These parts are replenished annually to ensure equipment is repaired quickly in the event of breakdowns,” said Carew.
A number of companies submitted quotes on a single skid, comprising 50 edges. Quotes ranged from $32,500 to $49,869, plus HST.
Western Hydraulics Ltd. provided the lowest quote, and council approved the purchase of a skid at a cost of $37,375, HST included.
Both motions were approved unanimously.
