More bleachers for Peter Barry Duff Park
By Mark Squibb
Paradise council earlier this month approved the purchase of two new sets of bleachers for Peter Barry Duff Park.
Staff had budgeted $48,256 for the purchase of the bleachers in Budget 2024, and four sets of bleachers were bought earlier this year at a cost of $28,083 HST included.
Given the bleachers had come in underbudget, staff issued an additional request for proposals for more bleachers.
Coastline Specialties Ltd., the only bidder to respond to the request, submitted a bid in the amount of $16,410, HST included, for two sets of aluminum bleachers.
Council did not specify where the bleachers will be placed.
Council also approved the purchase of a referee shelter for the Dianne Whalen multi-sport turf field. Currently, the field houses a referee bench, but no shelter.
Councillor Patrick Martin said the Town received three bids, and that Sportscraft provided the lowest quote at $13,989, HST included.
The shelter is a budgeted item carried over from the turf construction project, which was budgeted at about $2 million.
The multi-turf field opened in October 2022.
