Respect the rules of the road, Connors reminds ATV riders
By Craig Westcott
Now that the Town of CBS is officially open to ATV traffic on some streets, the councillor who has been pushing for the pilot project is sending a last-minute reminder to riders to respect the rules of the road.
“I’m very pleased that all the signs are up for the ATV pilot project, and designated routes have been identified,” councillor-at-large Paul Connors told his colleagues last week.
The routes include Seal Cove Road and Garden Road in Seal Cove, and Anchorage Road and Chute Road in Long Pond, and all the connecting roads to those streets within a one-kilometre radius.
“CBS is more ATV friendly because of it,” Connors said. “I just want to send a reminder: people have got to be 16, you’ve got to have your licence, liability (insurance), you must have an original exhaust system. But I’m asking all ATV users to be respectful and yield the right of way to all pedestrians, oncoming traffic, and anyone who is out on a pedal bike or a bicycle, and to travel on the side of the road when it is safe to do so. And hopefully this will be a huge success.”
