More work on lift station 10

The cost for Lift Station 10 continues to climb.
Paradise council last week ratified an e-mail vote it had conducted earlier this month for additional work on the new sewer pumphouse.
Council voted to award R.V. Andersen $121,390, plus HST, to install three new combination air release valves at three locations along the St. Thomas Line forcemain. That cost is exclusive to the actual cost of materials. Council approved the purchase of $46,678, payable to Olympic Construction Ltd., for materials in July.
Staff recommended the work be added to the Lift Station 10 contract rather than be tendered separately so as to avoid delays and added costs.
Deputy Mayor Kimberley Street said installation of the valves will help reduce pressure in the force main and reduce the risk of future malfunctions.
Councillor Glen Carew added the valves can be repurposed should council install a new force main in the future.
Council also approved a three-way electrical switch for the lift station at a cost of $845.
