Too close to call

Avalon Dragons chairperson Alice Mannion said last weekend’s SunSplash Paddle in Paradise dragon boating races went off without a hitch. The not-for-profit had to cancel last year’s event due to inclement weather, but this time around the weather was much more favourable. “There was very little wind and it was overcast, which is better for paddling than sun,” said Mannion. “Everything went like clockwork. We were very, very pleased.” Pictured here are the Rock Island Dragons in the boat closest to the camera racing neck and neck with the Madhatters across Octagon Pond. Sam Westcott photo
