Publisher’s Note
Important changes to deadlines and distribution dates
Readers and advertisers are asked to note there will be significant changes in the deadlines, distribution dates and even the appearance of The Shoreline News starting next week.
Due to the closure of the Saltwire printing plant in St. John’s, which printed The Shoreline News under contract, we are having to move the printing of the paper to the Maritimes. The new deadline for classified ads, Memoriams, and display advertising is Tuesdays at Noon. The deadline for Municipal Notices, including Discretionary Use, Variance and Municipal Plan Amendment Notices, is 10 a.m. Wednesdays. The paper will be available on all our newsstands throughout the Avalon Peninsula on Mondays.
“We apologize to our readers and advertisers for these unavoidable changes,” said Publisher Craig Westcott. “We are hoping this change is temporary. We are working hard to reestablish newspaper printing operations in this province, both to print our own newspapers and serve other small publishers throughout Newfoundland and Labrador. That is something that cannot be accomplished overnight. But with the support of you, our readers and advertisers, we hope to ‘keep it in Newfoundland.’ In the meantime, I want to thank everyone who worked at the press in St. John’s for their many years of great service, and for their friendship and many kindnesses. Through no fault of their own, these talented, hard working, skilled people are losing their jobs. Here at The Shoreline, we wish each and everyone one of you all the very best. We miss you already. Good people with your skills and work ethic are hard to find. Wherever you work next, they will be lucky to have you. I know that we feel privileged to have had you printing our paper.”
