Holyrood to upgrade Kielly’s Lane water and sewer works

By Mark Squibb

Holyrood is seeking approval from the Province to use federal Gas Tax money to make upgrades to the water and sewer infrastructure on Kielly’s Lane.

The motion to make the request was made by councillor Steve Winsor at last week’s public meeting.

Winsor said the Town had already requested bids to replace the infrastructure with new water and sewer lines to comply with current government standards and to reduce the continuous water leaks in the area, and that Buckle’s Contracting was the lowest bidder with a bid of $63,850, HST included.

“I think based on the bids that came in, obviously this one was a good bid,” said Mayor Gary Goobie.

“There were bids that were exorbitantly high,” agreed Winsor. “I’m sure these contractors were not actually interested in doing the work, and if they were going to do the work, they were going to make it extremely worth their while.”

The motion passed unanimously.
