The Kelligrews Soiree 8Km race sponsored by Tim Horton’s last Saturday saw a field of 164 finishers out of the 171 who registered, making it one of the biggest list of runners for the annual event in some years. Conception Bay South’s annual summer festival, the Kelligrews Soiree, started off with a bang last weekend with the annual 8 km road race sponsored by Tim Horton’s and the community breakfast inside the CBS Arena sponsored by Handyman Home Hardware. Mariia Martianova was the first female runner to cross the finish line.local politicians Melissa Hardy, Andrea Gosse, Ken McDonald and Paul Dinn helped dish out the pancakes at the community breakfast to families Adam, 2, and his parents Elliot and Tinisha Lewis, who were served by councillor Josh Barrett;
while Shane Stewart (in top right photo with sponsor Shaunessey Gallagher of Tim Horton’s) blew the field away in a time of 29 minutes. Stewart, a retired Canadian Forces member, actually biked to Kelligrews from St. John’s that morning to participate in the race.including Jack Ridgley, 5, and Maren Ridgley;and the Brake family, which includes dad Brent, mom Paige and son Arthur, age 2.
