Stepping up again

He’s been head of the school, head of council, head of the Legion, and now longtime volunteer Philip Wood, left, is the new chairman of the Bay Roberts Heritage Society. Wood, who was already vice chairman, accepted the promotion at a meeting last month, succeeding outgoing chairman Eric Jerrett, right. Joining Wood on the society’s board is Kelly Harris as Secretary, Ted Murphy as Treasurer, and directors Eric Jerrett, Elizabeth Jerrett, Phyllis Russell, Courtney Mercer, and Doris Murphy. Councillor Ross Petten will represent the Town of Bay Roberts. This year will mark the 35th anniversary of the society’s founding. The group is acknowledging the long-time support of Darryl and Marlene Fry, the Fry Family Foundation, the Town of Bay Roberts, and Derek Marshall, as well as many others who have contributed time and donations.
