CBS council this week has awarded a contract for the supply, delivery, installation, and maintenance of a two-way radio repeater system at the Parsons Rotary Clubhouse in Seal Cove to Hitech Communications at a cost of $17,443.

“There are some dead zones in the Seal Cove area, and this is going to help our fire department and public works and anyone on a two-way radio have a much more effective and consistent communication system,” explained Deputy Mayor and finance committee chairperson Andrea Gosse.

The two-way repeater helps boost coverage by receiving a radio signal on one frequency and simultaneously transmitting the same signal on another frequency.

Mayor Darrin Bent said installation of the repeater is for the safety of residents in the area.

The motion was approved unanimously.
