CBS council this week approved a motion to cooperate with the Town of Paradise in issuing a request for proposals to have a consultant iron out changes to the municipal boundary between the two towns.
“We have some properties that border Paradise and CBS and we’re just looking to make some changes that make sense with where we’re located,” explained Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse.
The area in question is along Vineyard Drive in Paradise, near the Ocean Glen Estates subdivision in Conception Bay South. While the majority of the subdivision is located within CBS’s boundary, some of the properties overlap into Paradise.
Councillor Paul Connors explained the two towns were essentially looking to swap a piece of land.
“We’re on part of theirs and they’re on part of ours,” said Connors.
Mayor Darrin Bent said that doing so would bring all of the properties within the Town of CBS’s boundary. Bent also joked that CBS was not in fact invading Paradise, which Gosse confirmed.
“It just makes sense to tidy it up,” Gosse summarised.
The motion was approved unanimously, excepting that councillors Shelley Moores, Rex Hillier and Gerard Tilley were not present and thus did not vote.
