Harbour Grace councillors dreaming of a green Christmas (tree)

By Mark Squibb / July 7, 2023

Harbour Grace council isn’t planning Christmas in July, but last week it did make plans to purchase a new Christmas tree for residents to enjoy.

“Our very hardworking S.W. Moores Memorial Park committee think that, to catch up to today’s world where we’re trying to preserve nature, rather than cut a Christmas tree every year, we’ll put a permanent one in place that will last for a number of decades,” explained councillor Gord Stone.

He then motioned that the Town provide the committee with funds to buy a tree to plant in the park.

The motion was seconded by councillor Randy Rice, and council approved the it unanimously.

The exact cost of the tree was not noted.
