Hooligans Cup winners

The Big Red Machine capped off a dominant season to win the Hooligans Cup last week. The CBS 30+ Hockey League finished up the weekend with three thrilling games, said spokesman Mark Fagan. “Both semi final games needed a shootout to determine the winners with team Blue edging team black, and Team Red beating Team White to set up a rematch from the 1st place game in the round robin,” he noted. “After losing to Team Blue in a shootout Thursday night the Big Red Machine was out for redemption on the Saturday night showdown in front of a packed Robert French Memorial Stadium. With three quick goals early in the final, that’s all the support goaltender and team captain Adam Whitty would need.” Turning aside 27 shots for the first ever championship game shutout, Whitty was presented with the Hooligans Cup for the 1st time. Members of the team include, starting in the front row, from left: Steve Sutton, Stephen Theriault, Gordon Lundrigan, Adam Whitty (G), Deion Whitty, Mike Abbott; and in back, from left: Stephen Strickland, Darren Pike, Dave Pender, Jason Davis, Jared Saunders, and Andre Adams.
