Get a number, pleads Carbonear Deputy Mayor

‘It’s very, very important’

Deputy Mayor Sam Slade has a request for Carbonear residents — put your civic number on your home.

“I think this is very, very important to the town,” said Slade. “There is a civic number policy in the town. I think it becomes really, really important if you’re calling 911 and you haven’t got a number on your house. That can become a problem for ambulances, it can become a problem for our fire department, and so it’s very, very important for people to understand that whatever your civic number is, you should place it on your house, and that way you’re not going to be hard to find.”

He said the matter was discussed during a Public Works committee meeting and he hopes more people will take the time to put their numbers on their homes in the coming days.

“It makes life a lot easier for folks,” said Slade.

The Town adopted its civic number policy, which requires residents and businesses to place civic numbers in a visible location on the front of the property, back in 2017.
