New Canadian

NEW CANADIAN—Fr. Anthony Nwoko, parish priest and administrator of St. Patrick’s R.C. Parish, Carbonear, and parish council chairperson Eleanor Ash, cut a cake, shortly after Nwoko took the Oath of Canadian Citizenship. The celebration was hosted by McCarthy Council, Knights of Columbus on Monday, March 27.  A member of the Vocationist Fathers, Nwoko has been serving as parish priest in Carbonear for the past seven years. Telling the large crowd on hand for the celebration he has always felt welcome here since he arrived from the African country of Nigeria, Nwoko said, “I feel happy, glad and proud to be one of you.” He is one of five Vocationist priests serving parishes in the Grand Falls R. C. Diocese, which includes part of the Avalon Peninsula. Photo by Bill Bowman
