Carbonear asks for tender on Adelaide Street upgrades

By Mark Squibb/October 7, 2022

The Town of Carbonear will continue working with the provincial government to accomplish some work along Adelaide Street.

During last week’s public council meeting, Deputy Mayor Sam Slade noted that as the Town received approval to call a public tender from the Department of Transportation for water, sewer and storm sewer upgrades, it ought to notify Harris &Associates, the prime consultant on the project, to arrange the tender.

The motion was approved unanimously.

The $1.19 million dollar project was approved for Multi Year Capital Works (MYCW) funding back in July 2021. The Town is on the hook for about $184,829.

The Town held an online public consultation session on the project on September 20, and earlier, on July 26, the Department of Environment granted Carbonear permission to install approximately 385 metres of 300 mm PVC watermain, 360 metres of 200 mm PVC sanitary sewer and related appurtenances.
