Paradise awards $1M roadwork contract to Weir’s

By Mark Squibb/July 22, 2022

The list has been approved, a construction company hired, and all that’s left now is to put the shovels to the ground.

During last week’s public meeting, council awarded the 2022 Street Rehab construction contract to Weir’s Construction.

The tender closed on May 31, and the Town received five bids.

For the purpose of bidding, the work was broken down into two parts: Part A was the actual Street Rehab program, while Part B was for road maintenance work.

The Town had budgeted a million dollars for the 2022 Street Rehab, and $400,00 for the road maintenance work.

“Based on these different budget lines, the tender was broken into Part A and Part B respectfully,” said councillor Deborah Quilty.

Council unanimously approved the motion to award the contract to Weir’s Construction. At $995,725, including HST, Weir’s was the lowest qualified bidder.

The actual list of streets to be included in the 2022 rehab program was approved by council back in April.

The 2022 list includes Dawe’s Road, Round Pond Road, Summit Drive, Wynnford Drive and Venton Place; and the installation of new infrastructure on Clarke’s Hillview, St. Thomas Line, Vambury Street, Mallow Drive and Copper Canyon Close.
