Paradise renews recreation contract with military

The Town of Paradise has renewed a contract with the Department of National Defense that will allow military members to avail of town facilities without having to pay for individual memberships or other fees.

Since 2016, the Town has an agreement with the Department providing recreation services to military members.

“This agreement is centered around recreation services for the military community,” said councillor Elizabeth Laurie at last week’s council meeting. “More specifically, the military community has availed of our fitness centre and skating session at the Paradise Double Ice Complex. This agreement has proved to be a very positive relationship with both parties, and we look forward to continuing on with this agreement.”

The Department will pay the Town an annual fee of $3,500 for military members who use the facility, and the contract extends to April 2023.

Council unanimously voted to renew the motion.
