Mayor Darrin Bent along with Poppy chairman Ralph Parmenter signed the 2021 Poppy Proclamation last week kicking off the Branch 50 Poppy Campaign in Conception Bay South. The campaign runs until November 10. “We are grateful to the many local businesses who participate in this event,” said Branch 50 spokesperson, Eileen Kavanagh. “Please support our veterans by taking a poppy and putting your donation in the poppy can.” On hand for the signing were, starting in the front row, from left: Branch 50 Poppy Chairman Ralph Parmenter, Mayor Darrin Bent, Branch 50 President Dave Strickland; and in the back, from left: Eileen Kavanagh, Elmer Andrews and Dianne Walsh. “This year we are honouring the 100th anniversary of the poppy,” Kavanagh noted.
