The NL Tsuruoka Karate club based in CBS participated in the Karate NL Provincial Karate Championships on May 27th at the Powerplex in St. John’s with 10 members competing in three events. The club won four gold, one silver, and two bronze medals. The silver was for a synchronized team performance of kata. The next challenge for the athletes is the Tsuruoka National Tournament to be held in September in Charlottetown, PEI. The team members include, starting in the back row from left: Sensei Wing Au, Jack Hann, and Olivia Greenslade; in the middle row from left: Keenan Pardy, Ben Roberts, Miriam Yetman, and Chloe Edgecombe; and in the front, from left: Brayden Meaney, Juliana Reardon, Catherine Yetman, and Bria Edgecombe.
