Paradise Elementary hosted a Ukrainian Newfoundland Kitchen Party last month, with students representing both cultures through song, dance, and special performances. The school boasts a number of Ukrainian students, and Ukrainian musician Oksana Korobko has been teaching students traditional Ukrainian songs and dances, such as the ‘Gopak,’ a festive dance which a number of Grade 3 students performed during the party. Because of COVID-19 restrictions over the last number of years, this was the first time many parents were able to watch their young children perform.
