Holyrood to get its pizza back
By Mark Squibb
Just months after the closure of Mama’s Lunch Pizzeria in Holyrood, another pizza parlour is looking to open shop in the same building.
Council approved the application in principle during its September 22 public meeting.
“I’m really looking forward to having a pizza restaurant in our town again,” said councillor Steve Winsor. “In all seriousness, we do want to see businesses like this succeed in Holyrood. As noted, the property has been vacant for a period of time now, so that’s why you’ll note it’s subject to approval from government services and the Holyrood Fire Department. So, there’s a food safety and fire safety aspect to that, given the age of the property and how it’s been vacant, but hopefully all that passes and any findings are rectified and it can go forward and you have one more option for your food takeout.”
Council also approved three new residential builds along Conception Bay Highway, rescinded a fourth at the owner’s request as the land was deemed unsuitable to build on, and approved an application for a modular construction company at 49 Horizon Drive.
Council also approved 13 permits for general repairs, fences, a driveway extension, site preparation, and accessory building construction.
