Bay Roberts Fire brigade looking for members

The Bay Roberts Fire Rescue department is keeping the call out to recruit new members.

Councillor Ross Petten, who serves as the Town’s liaison with the department, told his colleagues last month the department has 34 active members, and is looking for more.

Training remains a priority for the department, Petten said, noting there were four training nights held during the month of July, making for 31 training nights since 2026 began.

“Council would like to thank the members of Bay Roberts Fire Rescue for their dedication, professionalism, and continued service to our community,” said Petten.

The brigade responded to 18 calls in July, including four fires, eight vehicle accidents, and six medical calls. The department has responded to 132 calls this year.

Anyone interested in joining the brigade can pick up an application at the Town Hall in the Cable Building on Water Street. Applicants must be at least 19 years old, submit a certificate of conduct with a vulnerable sector check, and have a medical release from a doctor.
