Nearly double the trees for Paradise Park

More than double the trees may be planted in Paradise Park than was initially planned.

Back in April, council approved the planting of 325 trees at a cost of $731,366, of which $477,525 was being funded by the federal government.

However, according to councillor Sheldon Antle, the number of trees has doubled.

“If you want to talk about how engagement sessions change the concept and how plans work, when we first brought this to the table, we were looking at about 300 trees throughout Paradise Park,” said Antle. “Throughout the engagement process and working with Murray’s (Landscaping)and having conversations, we’re in the position that they’re saying it could be up to 700 trees, plants, shrubs and different landscaping pieces that are going to be there. So, I think that’s a fantastic initiative.”

Tree planting is scheduled to begin September 9.
