Holyrood rejects waterline extension request

By Mark Squibb

Holyrood council has rejected an application from a resident to extend a two-inch Town owned waterline approximately 235 metres to service a residential home.
“Essentially, we have to be mindful of how much infrastructure we are going to take on,” said councillor Steve Windsor, who explained the Town would be on the hook for maintenance of the waterline. He said council would reconsider extending the waterline if there was further development in the area.
Councillor Bruce King asked both the approximate cost of extending the waterline and whether the Town foresaw any development in the area in the foreseeable future.
Windsor said staff had prepared a cost estimate, although he didn’t have it in front of him at the moment. As to future development, Winsor said there was none foreseen, although he allowed that that could change.
