Paradise puts two more traffic calming moves on its agenda
By Mark Squibb
The Town of Paradise is looking to approve two new projects that council hopes will address traffic concerns.
Councillor Erin Furlong brought forward the matter during the November 24 committee of the whole meeting.
The councillor said a limited tender call was sent out to consultants for the detailed design of a raised crosswalk on Lanark Drive and an intersection re-alignment at Summit Drive and Rosewell Place. The raised pedestrian crosswalk was be installed between civic numbers 386 and 394, while the intersection re-alignment of Summit Drive and Rosewell Place will change the configuration of the intersection by eliminating the yield from Summit Drive onto Roosevelt Place and installing a three-way stop in its place.
The Town received two submissions, and staff recommended council award the contract to Englobe Corp., in the amount of $39,650, plus HST.
“We speak very frequently about how important traffic calming measures are to all of us around the table, based on what we hear from residents in Paradise, so I think that this is something that needs to be done,” said Furlong.
Mayor Patrick Martin said he has heard from residents in both areas, and that the upgrades will hopefully address their traffic concerns.
Council agreed to add the item to the public agenda to be approved at a future date.
One the design has been completed, staff hope to tender construction in the spring of 2026.
