Holyrood buys ‘new-to-me’ leak response vehicle

By Mark Squibb

The Town of Holyrood has purchased a gently used 2019 Ford Transit to replace the vehicle currently used to respond to water leaks at a cost of $22,885, HST included.

Deputy mayor Michele Woodford moved that council purchase the vehicle during the November 18 meeting
“The Town previously used a refurbished ambulance for their water leak responses, however that vehicle has outlived its usefulness and is too costly to repair and become road worthy,” said Woodford. “The investment in a vehicle enables our public works crew to respond much quicker and much more efficiently with all the supplies which may be required to correct a leak.”

Councillor Steve Winsor noted the van will be fitted with shelving to hold all the “tools, parts, and bits and bobs” staff need to respond to a leak.

“We don’t anticipate having to send this to Action Trucks for someone to outfit,” said Winsor. “The guys can take care of it with materials we have on hand.”

The motion was approved unanimously.
