Annabeth Greeley, 17, of Conception Bay South, is the recipient of the 2024 Miss Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador Leadership Program Spirt of Giving Award, which was presented earlier this month.

“I felt very proud, it’s such a nice award,” said the Queen Elizabeth student.

Greeley collected $5,610 in donations for Ronald McDonald House. All told, the group of some twenty-odd participants raised about $31,000 for the charity, which provides housing for families who are accompanying their sick children at hospital.

“I really enjoyed participating,” said Greeley. “I had to step out of my comfort zone, but I enjoyed it so much. It was uplifting spending the weekend with so many talented girls.”

The Grade 12 student said she would recommend other young women consider partaking in the program.

“It is so much fun, and you get to meet a lot of different people,” said Greeley. “I met a girl who is graduating from Musgrave Harbour with a class of 16, while I’m graduating with a class of 250. It’s nice to hear what it’s like growing up in different communities around Newfoundland. So, you’re not just learning about leadership, you’re learning more about Newfoundland too.”

Grace Kelly of Portugal Cove-St. Philip’s was crowned Miss Achievement Newfoundland and Labrador 2024-25. The outgoing titleholder is Olivia Taylor of Petty Harbour-Maddox Cove.
