More work needed on Billy Brook stormwater study

By Mark Squibb

Approval has been given to consultants Atkins Realis to provide additional work on the Billy Brook Stormwater Study at a cost of $32,135.

CBS council approved the study extension on Tuesday.

Ward 4 Councillor Melissa Hardy explained the additional work is needed to pinpoint alternative long terms solutions to flooding in the area.

“It’s nice to see work continuing on this project,” said councillor-at-large Rex Hillier. “We know that we’ve got residents down in Seal Cove with projects that they’d like to move on in terms of development being held up by concerns over flooding and so on, and this study will certainly give us a path forward in how we can deal with that.”

Mayor Darrin Bent concurred with Hillier’s assessment that a proper path forward is needed.

The motion was approved unanimously.
