CBS calls it a season at the outdoor rink

It’s still as likely to snow as not on a day-to-day basis, but the warmer weather has forced Conception Bay South staff to call it a season and close the outdoor skating rink in Long Pond for the season.
“We had a good run, and I know a lot of us here, and a lot of residents, enjoyed that, but with warmer weather and spring turning a corner, we’re getting ready to enjoy some different seasons,” said recreation committee chairman and councillor-at-large Joshua Barrett during this past week’s public meeting. “We’re pretty much spot on to where we ended last year, and so I think we can say it’s been a success, and I’m looking forward to hopefully using it again.”
The Town opened the rink at the new community park behind Dominion supermarket on January 11, making it an attraction for young and old on days when the wind and snow wasn’t enough to cut you. The oval was restricted to general skating only, Hockey was expressly forbidden. The rink closed March 28.
