By Mark Squibb

Harbour Grace council last week voted to purchase two new trucks, one from Avalon Ford with hydraulic dump box for a total of $131,943, and a 2024 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 from Hickman Motors for $65,272.

Council also voted to request a loan of $131,943, repayable in full by council and amortized over a 10-year period, from CIBC, as well as a loan of 65,272 repayable in full by council and amortized over a seven-year period, to cover the purchase of the vehicles.

Councillor Gordon Stone said the Town has a lot of older vehicles that are giving out, and the new trucks are necessary purchases.

Council also voted to buy out the lease on a Ford Escape SUV that is presently used by staff.

The contract is valued at $15,484 plus HST.
