If you’re going to resolve to eat better and exercise more in 2024, you might consider training for the Town of Conception Bay South’s 50th Anniversary Legacy Half-Marathon, which will be held in the fall of next year.
“We were hoping to put this off before Christmas, but it didn’t quite work out, so it is going to take place next year, but it is going to be a legacy run,” explained councillor Shelley Moores during this week’s public meeting. “We are very excited to be able to host something like this in the town.”
The recreation committee landed on September 29, 2024 as race day, with October 5 as a backup date, and have asked staff to work on a “save the date” to be released before the end of the year.
If you’re looking to get active and get outside but not looking to commit to running a 21- kilometre half marathon, you might be excited to hear that the recreation committee is hoping to host a 50th anniversary skating event at the community park skating rink in Long Pond, though that will be weather dependent, as temperature and weather conditions have to be just right before Town staff can begin making ice for the outdoor pad.
