Johnathon Delaney presented with Mount Pearl City flag

Warrant Officer Johnathon Delaney of the Canadian Armed Forces was presented with the Mount Pearl City flag at a recent Mount Pearl City Council Meeting. The officer will take the flag with him during his deployment to Iraq, where he will take part in Operation Impact with 16 to 18 other Canadians at an American base in Baghdad. “I know it’s only a flag to many, but for myself, being halfway around the world, I’m going to hang it up and it will be a reminder of home every time I look at it,” Delaney said. On hand for the presentation were, from left: councillors Chelsea Lane and Isabelle Fry, Mayor Dave Aker, Warrant Officer Johnathon Delaney, and councillors Bill Antle and Jim Locke.
