At least one event scheduled to coincide with the Town of Conception Bay South’s 50th anniversary in 2023 has been delayed until 2024.
At a recent recreation committee meeting held via Zoom on October 12, Recreation Director Nick Miller cited feedback from both the provincial government and internal staff regarding timelines, logistics, safety, and personnel, and after a lengthy discussion, the committee members concurred that postponing the race until 2024 was the best idea.
The postponement will ensure that best practises are followed and will give participants time to train properly.
An announcement regarding the rescheduled date is expected in the coming months.
The matter was not discussed during the public council meeting of October 17, during which the recreation committee meeting minutes were presented, but a blanket motion to accept the decisions of the committee passed unanimously.
And although the run is postponed until next year, folks can enjoy a 50th anniversary ATV run this Saturday, November 4.
Riders will meet up at the CBS Arena parking lot beginning at 11 a.m. and hit the trail at 11:30 a.m. heading to the Tilley’s Road gravel pit. Along the way there will be a BBQ and refreshments.
In case of weather, the event will be postponed until Sunday.
