Bay Roberts City Council voted unanimously last week to allocate $1.3 million in provincial multi-year capital works funding to complete more upgrades to Water Street.

Chief executive officer Nigel Black looked to the council for recommendations on where to spend the money, suggesting the next phase on Water Street should stretch from Barracks Lane to the Conception Bay Highway, as well as Shearstown Road upgrades.

As part of the funding process, the Town must provide the Province with a proposed list of projects that total the amount of funding, along with a timeline.

Leftover money from the funding, were it to exist, would come open for re-allocation. During the last block of funding, the same amount was allocated for phase 1 of the project. Council agreed to round out the rest of the expenditures necessary to access the money.
