Snow is hopefully at least a few weeks off yet, but the Town of Conception Bay South will be prepared for the white stuff whenever it may come.
Last week, council unanimously awarded a snow clearing contract to Farrell’s Excavating at a standby rate of $200 per hour, plus HST for 500 hours. If services are required beyond the 500 contracted hours, the Town will be charged $275, plus HST, for each additional hour.
Engineering committee chairperson Melissa Hardy, who made the recommendation, said that the motion was pretty standard from an operations point of view.
Mayor Darrin Bent added that the contracted services are in addition to the Town’s own snow clearing services, and that Farrell’s will be called in to help deal with the “big, bad ones,” although he hopes there won’t be any storms of that kind this winter season.
