September 25 – 29 declared as Seniors Week in CBS

Garland Ellsworth, left, and Pat Fagan, right, of council’s advisory committee on seniors, joined Mayor Darrin Bent Tuesday in declaring September 25 – 29 as Seniors Week in the Town of Conception Bay South. “I think it was about six years ago that we formed the Seniors Advisory Committee and over the years it has gone through some transformations,” Bent said. “And here we are today. It’s great to have you with us and it’s great to be able to work with you.” Bent noted that council’s representative on the committee is councillor-at-large Christine Butler, who was participating in the meeting by teleconference because she was out of town. The mayor noted that seniors are present in all aspects of people’s lives and make many contributions to better their communities. “They are parents and grandparents, our teachers, our volunteers, our mentors, our neighbours and our co-workers. And our friends too, in many cases,” he added. “Everyday seniors right here in the town of Conception Bay South make a big difference and we value what they are doing.” Craig Westcott photo
