A 70-year-old-man was arrested for drug-impaired driving by Harbour Grace RCMP on November 3 following a tip from the public of a suspected impaired driver in Old Perlican.

At approximately 4:45 p.m., police received the report of a man who appeared to be intoxicated and was trying to enter a number of parked vehicles at the Dr. A.A. Wilkinson Memorial Health Centre in Old Perlican.  A by-stander had taken possession of his keys to prevent him from driving.

When officers attended the scene, said Media Relations Officer Corporal Jolene Garland, the man showed signs of drug impairment and was arrested. He was transported to the detachment where a drug influence evaluation was completed. Officers await the results of the testing to determine if charges of impaired driving are appropriate.

The man was released from custody and issued a driver’s licence suspension. His vehicle was seized and impounded.
