Santa Claus to visit Bay Roberts

By Mark Squibb/November 4, 2021

Santa Claus is coming to town.

“The plan is to continue with the Santa Claus parade as in the past,” said councillor Dean Franey.

He added the parade will be subject to whatever provincial regulations are in place come parade time.

“So, if council is okay with it, we would like to go ahead, based on the current regulations, and do a Santa Clause parade, again this year,” said Franey, who noted it will be a traditional, in person parade.

Councillor Silas Babcock said all COVID regulations must be followed.

Franey said the success of events around the province — including the recent Light the Lamp ball hockey tourney in Bay Roberts — is proof that events can be held safely.

Mayor Walter Yetman allowed the parade will be able to go ahead, unless something changes between now and December.

The parade will be held on December 4 — Franey’s birthday.

The Town’s ever popular Festival of Lights will begin November 24 and run until January 6.
