Forty-seven phases of water and sewer

The list of capital invoices in the Town of CBS came with some needed clarification last month.
When council voted to pay its capital invoices, among the bills was one for phase 47 of the Town’s water and sewer remediation project. That invoice was for $5,922 out of the total invoices of $671,762.
Although that is not out of the ordinary, said councillor-at-large Rex Hillier, there were a number of questions from people who had seen the item on the meeting agenda.
The concern, he said, lay in the fact that the project was on its 47th phase.
“Someone was questioning how big a project we must be doing to have 47 phases to it,” he said.
Hillier noted the Town itself dates back to the 1970s, and that 47-years would take us back to the mid-1970s.
“Phase 47 is the way we track our water and sewer projects,” he noted. “And this is 47-years we’ve been working on them.”
He also said the Town is preparing to move on to phase 48 in the near future.
