Harbour Grace approves Riverhead pump house work

By Mark Squibb/February 17, 2023

The Town of Harbour Grace is one step closer to a new sewage pump station in Riverhead.

During a public meeting held on January 30, councillor Terry Barnes made the motion to enter a consultant contract with Harris & Associates Ltd for a new Riverhead sewer pumping station.

The contract comes with a price tag of $49,000, HST included.

“There were four bidders for this contract, and Harris & Associates was the lowest bids,” said Barnes, who read out each of the four bids, which ranged in price from $49,000 to $71,600, HST included.

He added that the Department of Municipal Affairs have also given the greenlight for the awarding of the contract.

Deputy Mayor Keith Skinner declared a potential conflict of interest and left chambers, and therefore did not vote on the matter.

The motion carried unanimously amongst the remaining members of council, and there was no further discussion on the matter.
