Goobie has Ma Bell’s cell number

Holyrood Mayor Gary Goobie says he’s pleased following a recent meeting with Bell Mobility staff regarding the quality of cellular phone and internet service in the community.

The Town met virtually with representatives from Bell Mobility, the company Goobie said that owns the communication infrastructure and cel towers in Holyrood, on Monday evening.

“During the one-hour meeting, we implored the necessity of making improvements to their infrastructure to better serve their customers,” said Goobie. “While it was a cordial and respectful meeting, I will say that we were very forthright and direct in our persistence for better service to our area.”

Goobie said while no improvements are planned in the company’s current three-year cycle, Bell Mobility will commence a performance review of the two towers in Holyrood, and report back with its findings.

Goobie said a synopsis of the performance review is expected within two weeks.

‘So, that is a starting point in helping to identify any problems that could exist with their infrastructure,” said the mayor. “They received the message loud and clear, that we will remain steadfast in working on behalf of residents in our pursuit for better service.”

The issue is not new to the council chambers. Back in 2020, council voted to send a letter to Bell Mobility regarding poor cell phone service.

At the time, Bell Mobility told Holyrood that consideration would be given to improving and expanding its network in Holyrood.
