Participants in this year’s Giv’er on the River fundraiser for the Manuels River Centre, which had been postponed earlier this fall because of bad weather, enjoyed sunny skies and fairly warm temperatures this past Sunday. And some even had cheering sections. From left, Doug Crummey, Andrew Janes (with dog Jake) and Crystal Crummey wait near the finish line for runners Jess Janes, Taylor Oates and Morgan Oates. Some 277 runners and walkers participated in what was the 9th annual event, said CBS Ward 1 councilor Shelly Moores, who is a long-time volunteer on the centre’s board. Moores said the Giv’er race usually raises $10,000 to $12,000 each year, which goes toward trail development and maintenance. Also waiting at the finish line were Mayor Darrin Bent and Deputy Mayor Andrea Gosse, the latter of whom has also served on the Manuels River board. The council representatives greeted the participants as they crossed the finish line and presented them with medals. Craig Westcott photo
