By Staff/November 4, 2021

A 33-year-old woman was ticketed and the dirt bike she was operating was seized by Bay Roberts RCMP after a collision with a car on October 25 in Georgetown, Conception Bay.

A police spokesperson said that shortly before 7:00 p.m., they received a report of the collision on Bull Cove Road and attended the scene.

“Officers learned that the car was struck by the dirt bike while the dirt bike was attempting to pass the car on the roadway,” said Media Relations Officer Corporal Jolene Garland. “A child was seated on the back of the dirt bike when the collision occurred. No one was injured and the car received minor damages.”

The woman was ticketed for operating the dirt bike on the roadway and for operating without a driver’s licence. The dirt bike was seized and impounded.

Cpl. Garland said given the high number of injuries and deaths involving off road vehicle use, enforcement continues to be a priority for the RCMP throughout Newfoundland.
