A 29-year-old man was arrested by Bay Roberts RCMP on September 5 for impaired driving following a traffic stop in Spaniard’s Bay.

At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday, police stopped a pickup truck on Route 70 and suspected the driver was impaired by alcohol, said Media Relations Officer Corporal Jolene Garland. The man failed a roadside breath test, was arrested for impaired driving and was transported to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were nearly twice the legal limit.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to attend court at a later date to answer to charges of impaired driving.  His licence was suspended and the truck was seized and impounded.
